I recently upgraded my computer, installing a start up SSD and replacing the cd drive with a 1TB HD.

Prior to this i had all my music in an external HD.

On the external HD the "_serato_" file was on the root and i had a folder "Music" also on the root which contained my music files.

Been that i had more space now internally (1TB) i migrated my files and _serato_ into the "Music" folder on the internal hd

I noticed that there is a _serato_ file on the root of my HD apart from the one inside the "Music" folder.

Which one is serato using? Which one does it save too?

Thats all i need to know.

Typically the one inside the Music folder is the one it is writing to. To test this, make a new crate inside of Scratch Live and add some songs to it.

Close the program
Now check both the _Serato_ folders
They should both have a "Subcrates" folder
Which Subcrates folder has the new crate in it?

yeah its writing in the one inside the Music folder.
and i found only a few crates in there, its reading from both.

Can I copy the crates from the Root _serato_ to the "Music Folder" _serato_ ?

I just did a bit of tinkering.

1. I deleted both _serato_ files (the one on the root of the 2nd Internal HD and the one inside my "music folder"). The My Music folder is located in the 2nd Internal HD. When i closed and reopened ScratchLIve, the two _serato_ files were created again in both locations as i previously described.

2. I tried to merge the subcrates. root subcrates added to my music subcrates.
This scenario ScratchLive recreated the crates in the root _serato_ despite me deleting them

Not sure why its doing that. Its acting as if the Internal Drive is an External and Internal. You may need to create another User Profile in order to fix this.

Is it causing an issue?

It's not causing any issues. It's just confusing.
The 2nd internal HD actually my Home HD. It's where OsX saves all my user files by default.
The Primary SSD is the boot drive and stores apps

I have the same issue yet only one of my _serato_ files has a subcrates file in it..... its as if it has split the _serato_ file in half and saved it in 2 separate sections on the same drive. I have been having freezing issues with serato lately also. i tried to create a single _serato_ file by renaming the file to _serato_old and making it create a new _serato_ folder but it loses all the songs in serato so i put it back to the 2 file system and its back but it has freezing issues randomly. ive replaced both SSD and SSHD since it started freezing and im at a loss to how to stop the freezing with out losing my music.

Same thing just happened to me starting this week. I didn't do any updates on my computer or Serato and Serato DJ. Its grabbing a old database file and its combining with another previous version of database. It's also grabbing music that I deleted on Serato DJ.

This is the same situation I'm in. Installed an SSD and moved my HD to the optical bay.
Now I don't have history files prior to the merge or my saved midi presets for dicers and trigger finger.

The real issue is that I don't have history files prior to this year. Those playlists are super helpful to remember what worked at certain gigs.

Any suggestions how to properly recover the history?
I've already merged the serato data from the HD to the SSD several times.
