I recently upgraded my laptop to window 7 from windows vista. And Serato is having problems staying open. I get a message that a problem has caused serato to stop working. Windows will now close it. The same for Serato DJ Intro.

Hey Muziknut,
It sounds like you may have a corrupt file(s) in your library.
I would suggest analyzing your entire library..
Know that various versions of Serato software handle corrupt files differently.
One version may not have an issue with a file while another one will.
That is why we suggest you reanalyze your entire library anytime you update to a new version.
You do this by unplugging your Rane hardware, holding down the ctrl key, and clicking on the 'analyze files' tab.
When are you seeing this error?
Once its done analyzing your files look through the 'all' section for any corrupt files.
They will have an icon next to them that looks like a cd with a crack down the middle of it.
If you are having SDJ read your iTunes library and you see any files with corrupt iTunes logos next to them you'll need to jot them down, shut down SDJ, open iTunes, delete them from iTunes, and then re-open SDJ.
Once your library is corrupt file free give it a good test run and let us know if you are still having issues.

Did you see any corrupt files after analyzing and did you delete them all if so?
If so, and you're still having issues it may be due to SSL running out of virtual memory.
Try these steps to increase the ram usage --> www.maketecheasier.com

Still having the same problem with scratch live. should i uninstall the reinstall it back?

Zach S
5:40 PM - 4 March, 2014
The issue is SSL crashing or not working cause its saying its "not compatible"?

muziknut23
6:18 PM - 4 March, 2014
It keeps saying a application has cause serato to stop working. Every time i go to make a move in the program. I ran a campatibilty test and its says not compatible. I pretty much tried eveything except uninstall it.

muziknut23
6:19 PM - 4 March, 2014
this started to happen after i upgraded to Windows 7 home premium

muziknut23
12:20 AM - 5 March, 2014
the exact words are,
Scratch live application has stopped working
a problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available

Ok.. have you tried taking either one or both out of the equation?
I would try using one at a time and see if you still experience a crash.
You may be suffering from too large a library.

ok i'll try now. Also the scratch live.exe the specified path does not exist. Do u think this is causing the problem?

muziknut23
12:26 AM - 8 March, 2014
i reinstalled the program same problem. Do you think its windows 7? I didn't have this problem with Vista. I wanted to try Serato DJ that's why I upgraded to Win 7. But Im afraid to buy it due to the crashes.

muziknut23
1:27 AM - 8 March, 2014
its seems it may be both my hardrives. i downloaded the trial version of DJ. when the hard drives are connected it crashes, disconnect it works fine. It plays the files from the c drive

muziknut23
1:31 AM - 8 March, 2014
the crates load up fine, when i drag a song to the deck it stops working

muziknut23
1:37 AM - 8 March, 2014
Now with scratch live it seems to work fine without the iTunes hard drive connected

Zach S
6:07 PM - 10 March, 2014
Ya maybe try moving everything to another drive and reformatting your drive before moving everything back.
It also just may be that you have too large of a library.
Read more on that here --> dj.rane.com

I have had the exact same problem on multiple computers, with different hardware and library content. the link quoted above does not specify the maximum library size allowed. Currently I have 273gb on an freshly formatted and installed internal SSD in a brand new computer. Next step is to search for and delete duplicate files and to move my library to c:\ to reduce the path.

This happens to me repeatedly on different systems. I have implemented all the optimization settings recommended here support.serato.com
and here support.serato.com
and the troubleshooting link support.serato.com
after importing the crash dump reg file the shortcut link does not work then directly pasting the path also does not work. Checked manually and the folder does not exist in C:\Users\kboogie\AppData\Local or anywhere else I search.

just searched ntdll.dll and it seems to be an nvidia thing. Serato recommends to update to latest video card drivers and provides optimization instructions but is the GeForce GT 720M with 344.75 driver supported?

I'm having this same problem as well:
Sony VAIO laptop computer, Intel Core 2.20 GHz, 12.0 GB RAM, 64-bit, Windows 8.1, a little over 1/2 the 1 TB hard drive is full. This laptop is only used for DJing.
Serato Scratch Live 2.5.
2 Denon DNS-3700s in Hybrid Mode, 2 USB cables through a USB hub to the laptop.
Rane SL2 Box, direct USB to laptop, and I use an AC power cord.
Action Star 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub, with an AC power cord.
I'm wondering if anyone wants to weigh in on what they think the culprit might be? I'd be willing to consider replacing or upgrading something if there was a definite consensus as to what's causing the occasional drop outs. Does this issue also happen with Serato DJ? Is it worth the trouble of upgrading, knowing that I will have to re-map my Denon DNS-3700s and DN-HC4500s? Thanks in advance.

I read somewhere that Serato was having problems with Intel Windows computers... not sure if they fixed the issue... check the sticky threads...

I have issues with scratch live v 2.5 . I have SL1 box . I have (2) Ion turnables connected to small mixer. I am using an HP model 15d035dx 3.9 usable gb mem and upgraded to 750 gb hard drive. Intel processor. Came with windows 8 and upgraded to 10. My issue is after 20 -30 minutes of playing , I try to load a song to either deck 1 or 2 and my PC freezes (stalls) . I have heard it may be the files so I tried to analyze the files, but it goes real slow and then it also freezes. So I can't analyze files to let me know what files, if any are corrupt. Need help. The box works fines with my wifes computer and same files. Help.

Hello Origdondada,
Unfortunately Scratch Live and the SL1 are not going to work on Windows 10.
The last compatible operating system is Windows 8.1.
You will need to downgrade your OS if you want to continue to use Scratch Live with an SL1.

Zach - thanks.
Question : in the properties tab of scratch live /compatibility / there is a drop down arrow to change to 8. It is actually showing windows 8 now, so I am assuming this does not work. How can I downgrade to windows 8.1.

I would contact a Windows computer specialist and get some assistance from them.
I'm not sure about the fastest and/or easiest method to downgrade.
