Serato Lite driver issue

I played a 5hr set at the weekend & had major tech issues. Setup was:
- Roland 202 controller
- Serato Lite
- Mac Powerbook (OS Monterrey)
I got a driver update just before I left for the party & installed it. Got to the party, turned laptop on & got the driver update message again. Had to login to their wifi (super awkward) to be able to download driver. Midway through the set, the music stopped & controller functionality stopped. Had to install driver for 3rd time, reset laptop 3 times and after about 10 minutes got it to work.
Has anyone experienced this? How can I fix this so it doesn’t happen again in the future?

-Never change a running system without absolute necessity.
-Make a backup before making any changes.
-Extensively test for functionality after each change.

Serato forces me to install driver every time I boot it up.
Backup? Of what? The driver? It is on hard drive. Again, seems excessive to have to do every time I start Serato.
I did test. When it was stable (after installing the driver), it was fine. However, during the show it crashed for no reason then I had to go back, find wifi then re-download the driver. Painful & stressful.

-Disable automatic updates in the os.
-Don't do any updates (not even in the os) just before a live gig
-Make a backup as soon as a configuration works to be able to access it in case of an emergency
-If there is enough space on the hard disk, create a second installation from this working backup for unexpected emergencies.
-Don't go online just before and during a gig.
-...
There are many ways to avoid such a worst-case scenario or at least to be optimally prepared for it.
Otherwise, I can't think of what could be the cause.
Uninstall Serato and all drivers and after a reboot reinstall everything again and activate Serato.
If the problem persists, back up your data and completely reinstall the os.

Disabling automatic updates is a good call. Thanks.
