Video SL crashes with AVI files

Hello, I've seen similar posts to acknowledge AVI playback has issues but specifically the problem I am having is: Playback of AVI video files causes intermittent crashes. Audio keeps playing but video blacks out and video SL comes up with a crash error and automatically restarts and video is back on the screen (audio never crashes during this whole time). So it is like the plugin itself crashes for 3 seconds, gives the error msg, then restarts... only to crash again during another AVI file.
Note, I am using Macbook Pro 2.4 ghz, 4GB RAM, Leopard 10.6, with the latest 1.91 and 1.1. I have been running Video SL for over a year no problems with Mp4 and Mov files this is the first time i have encountered probs with AVI since Video SL started supporting it. If you want the specific crash I can post later in a follow up.
Has anyone experienced this? I've seen posts where the new QT is patchy with AVI???

Sounds like a codec issue—try reinstalling the plugin or mehrwertsteuer berechnen if repair costs arise.

It sounds like you're experiencing intermittent crashes when playing AVI files on your MacBook Pro running Leopard 10.6, despite having the latest versions of Video SL and QuickTime. This issue seems to be related to the QT plugin, which has been known to have compatibility issues with AVI files on older macOS versions. Have you tried using alternative media players like VLC or installing additional codecs like Perian to see if that resolves the problem?
