Reloop Mixon 8 and unlocking Serato software

Hi,
I want to get straight to the point here, I recently purchased a Reloop Mixon 8 and understand that it unlocks Serato DJ Pro. As we know these days Serato selling format of its software has changed and buying individual packs is no longer possible, which imo is pain but we crack on, does the Mixon 8 Pro unlock the full suite or just the basic Pro software? I wouldn't use the full suite but there are bits in there that I would use and i guess its like that for most people. Anybody with Mixon 8 experience please let me know. The Mixon is delayed in transit so I wont have it for a few days yet. Thanks in advance.

To be honest mate I’m suprised I got my hands on it too. It is currently on sale at D247 for £699 and I was offered finance so I took it.
I agree it’s a serious bit of kit and it’s a great design from Reloop. Being an older hobbie DJ I have been through a few controllers over the last 10+ years and miss that control over the effects on the later gear. I have just returned a Numark unit for the Mixon 8, the NS4FX. It was ok but not for me, decent sound quality, great jogs, good connections but cheap pots and faders and I mean awful! No where near the NS62. Looking forward to it.
The new Mixtour Pro is very nice I would recommend that if the money short. Solid workflow and build quality but, yep sorry but another but, the powering of the unit is imo too flimsy and too fast! They implemented an Power delivery system which charges your iPad at super speed which I was not comfortable with and it will only work with a usb c to c cable for the charger which also must be a 20w phone charger like the newer Apple version. Not good. That is a noisy power supply and will carry noisy power into the controller. You probably wouldn’t notice it until you tried something like the iFi Power X 12v in there then you would be shocked at the difference in sound quality. They should have left the 12v 2a barrel connection like the old Mixtour and just trickle feed the iPad rather than Power Delivery. At least with that configuration the end user gets to choose a better power supply which in turn produces a far better quality of sound which is what I did with the Numark NS4FX and the difference using an iFi Power X power supply was night and day coming through my Desktop speakers, a pair of JBL 104bt reference speakers. Bway better bass tones, less sibilance, better instrument separation and much less electronic noise, less digital glare. Way, way cleaner sound.
Anyway the Mixon 8 does use the barrel connection at 12v 3A which is not covered by iFi power X as their 12v version tops out at 2amps. So the only alternative is a Medical power supply with ultra low ripple and solid internal isolation with Medical grade stability. They are more expensive but the payoff is worth it if sound quality is high on your list. Ideal power and Meanwell do a variety of 12v Medical power supply’s which will far supersede the provided power supply for clean power. Worth looking into.

totally agree with what you stated, never thought of the future issues the Mixon 8 might have, I guess they designed it more for DJay pro users, and that's what I use side by side with Serato,
I currently use the DDJ-SX2, reason why is cause it has a lot more buttons for custom mapping, and that's what I have done, custom mapped stems to exactly how I want it. its perfect for me at the moment:)

Great controller, used to have an SX2. Maybe look at upgrading your power supply. I can’t remember of hand what the SX2 uses but I guarantee a better power supply than the stock version will improve the sound quality. If you want some reference info on power supplies let me know.

Meanwell 12V, 3.34A, 40W - GSM40A12-P1J
Ideal Power 12V 3A 36W - 44ATM036T-P120
IFi power X 12v 3A
The first two are Medical Power Supplies and also have other versions with higher ampere for 5v if you need to go higher as well as higher voltage rates if you need to go 12v.
The iFi Power X is an Audiophile power supply which is also excellent. It’s the most expensive out of the 3.
Worth keeping in your notes.
Cheers bro, God bless.

This one will is the exact one I would use for the SX2
or the iFi power X if I was given overtime at work to pay the extra for the 5v 3A but this one from Ideal Power is good enough and better than the Pioneer power supply, these are around £45 in the UK.

Hey
Big update!
First of all forget all of those power supply’s apart from the iFi Power X which I own and have compared myself and found GENUINELY improved the sound quality. The rest I have not tested and is based on opinion of others.
Secondly the Mixon 8 arrived today and is a Lemon! The left deck is faulty and software not responding to the play button so has immediately been returned to D247.
Other people have had the same issues online. Similar to the Mixars Primo controller which had issues to.
Cheers!
