Big Sur with CDJ 3000 + DJM A9

The club I'm resident at is currently being renovated and will open up in early March. My boss just informed me that the new equipment will be CDJ 3000 + DJM A9, which is a very welcomed upgrade from the old DJM 900 + CDJ 2000NXS.

I own an older MacBook Pro late 2013 with Big Sur (max macOS version officially supported) + Serato DJ Pro 2.6.2 and it's been rock solid. I use the CDJs in HID mode and I also use the mixer's internal soundcard. I also own a Denon DS1 that I typically use in other venues.

Other than buying a new computer, what is my best way forward using this equipment for smooth sailing with the new decks and mixer?

AFAIK, Serato DJ Pro 3.0.12 is officially supported by Big Sur and all the aforementioned Pioneer equipment. What's your take?

if DJingf is part of your Job then upgrading your Mac is the most sensible thing at least to a Mac that you can upgrade the OSX to recent versions.

Running Serato with stems requires a bit of power,

alternatively you can upgrade your Old Mac to the latest OSX using "open core legacy patcher" but this is a temporary fix, you really should invest in a newer Mac or a decent gaming windows laptop.

I specifically stated “other than buying a new computer”.

Do you have experience with the stability of hacking an unsupported OS into an unsupported Mac? Also, this assumes that I want to be running the latest version of Serato, which might not necessarily be the case.

yes indeed I am running a 2012 macbook pro with Sequoia, and it runs very smooth with Serato DJ no issues at all.

Like I stated before, to avoid any issues you either use "OCLP" or buy a newer mac laptop, and I dont mean the latest M1 M2 or M3 Mac, just something in the 2017 upwards mac, those are your choices,

You cant blame Serato for your issues, if you're not prepared to at least upgrade your old laptop. There is no magic way around it.

Just to add

some Older Macs, not all, are more than capable of running newer OSX but Apple being Apple, they want you to bin your old Mac, and then buy their flashy new Macs,
thats why they've prevented older macs from being able to be updated.

Thank goodness for the team at "Open Core Legacy Patcher" you can bring your old macs to life.
