Where to buy a Mac in Guelph, Ontario, Canada ?

WarpNote 5:42 AM - 15 September, 2011
Got a friend travelling in 2 weeks, thinking about upgrading to a newer MBP,
and the prices in my country is quite steep.
The 15" - 2,2 Ghz i7 - 4GB Ram -750GB/5400 RPM Disk - high res screen is about $3300 over here.

Looking to save a few bucks, any tips?

Thanks, Warp.

any of the big chains will sell them:

London Drugs, Best Buy, Future Shop

Macs don't really vary in price at all so it doesn't really matter where you go.

Just remember to get applecare and not the store's extended warranty...

Thanks Soo, do you know if Applecare bought in Canada applies worldwide,
or would I need to send the machine to Canada? I'm on the other side of the planet.
Could probably buy the Applecare locally later on, right?

BTW, with currency conversion, I would save about 1000 USD on getting the machine in either USA or Canada, for a base 17" model, with the 8GB RAM option.

that I don't know - probably should check with apple.

If I were you, I would get it in the US - with the dollar the way it is, you'd probably save a little more buying it in america than canada. Right now the canadian dollar is on par or higher than the US dollar but it's priced lower in the states than it is in Canada...
WarpNote 1:23 AM - 20 September, 2011
I've just checked pricing Soo, the price difference between US & Canada is minimal.
For that spec (base 17" model: i7 2,2GHz, 8GB Ram) the retail difference is $10,-
and accordng to the mac currency converter 1 USD = 0.99 CAN

And thing is, my buddy is traveling to Canada this time,
he won't be going to the US for at least 4 months...

huh - just checked the stores - for some reason the 17" is actually the same price - everything else has the Canadian version being about $150 more.

Yea, pretty much any major electronics outlet will sell macs - I'm sure guelph has a mac store in some mall somewhere too...
WarpNote 2:07 AM - 20 September, 2011
Yeah funny thing, guess they have a better overhead on the 17" model...?

Guelph is my second favorite name of a Canadian city behind Regina. My buddy was actually born there.

Sorry that it's no help to you.

Problem with buying something from Guelph is it's a small town and a bit of a journey to the nearest major city, you're not going to get much in the way of a Mac store out there, maybe a Best Buy in Kitchener or something.
WarpNote 6:54 AM - 20 September, 2011
Thanks everyone, my buddy has actually been to Guelph before.
I've emailed him the computer spec and he'll check with the stores for stock & pricing.

sacrilicious, no worries. Alslo, Is that headset on the avatar the one you actually use ? ;-)

Not true...There are a couple Mac Stores around Guelph and the surrounding area.

If you want an actual Mac store check out Carbon Computing in Kitchener, they are the best iv'e dealt with hands down!!

Whut? there are a couple in Guelph but the best one, imo is in Kitchener (aka surrounding area)
Dj Shamann 3:29 PM - 21 September, 2011
Dude, I was only messing around. But what I was saying is Guelph is not exactly a metropolis and you're not going to have as many options, and Kitchener would probably a better bet.

I know, I ran a 17" heavy ass PC when I first got into serato.
No I run a 15" MBP. Some friends of mine run 13" MBPs for SSL and others run 15".
Personally I prefer 15" screens for SSL. However, this MBP will primarily be for graphics & video work, and the mantra is screen estate, screen estate, screen estate....
sacrilicious 5:35 PM - 21 September, 2011
I've got a 17" MBP and don't mind it at all. It's only felt slightly too big in one booth where I had it tucked way to the side and it was more or less against a wall
