I want to become a DJ but I don't know where to start.

I'm not a DJ but I have a passion for music and the DJ profession. Before I even begin to ask for the best way to get started as a DJ, what do I NEED (i.e.: equipment, software, tools, training, etc...) to get started in the DJ profession so that I can train in the DJ arts?

Collect as much music as you like......and learn how to mix or blend.

Hello Jamel!

Regarding hardware, my recomendation is that you get a computer (preferably a Mac) and a controller. It is the most versatile configuration you can have nowadays and it is really not that expensive. For instance, look for a Vestx Typhoon or similar, it has a good price and you will be able to learn to mix music and other DJ tricks with it.

Alberto

I Concur with the above posts,BUT You must Crawl before you can Walk. You have to ask yourself,"What Kind of DJ Do I Want To Be" Club(Techno,House, etc.) , Wedding/Party DJ. Also do you want to Use Analog System(Turntables & Mixer) or Go Digital(Controller & Computer) or a Combination of both? I for-one started with Vinyl way back in The Day with 2 Turntables & Mixer(Very Expensive)
OR,You can Find A Local DJ Company That will Hire You & Train You.A lot of These Companies will Give you the Training along with The Equipment & Music. That way you can get your Feet Water without going Broke..Just a Thought...
.Good Luck in Your Search To Becoming The Next Big DJ....

When your beginning to have your feet wet you really don't know what to do as time goes by you'll decide if you wanna Dj for Fun or you wanna do it as a Job.

Learn the basics first, like just blending then just start getting comfortable and everything else will come easy afterwards, but you.need to practice a lot good luck.
